성경을 버린 강단(PCUSA), 어디까지 무너질 것인가?:

동성애를 넘어 “일대일 단혼제 해체”와 “아동 성전환”까지, 현대 교회의 거침없는 타락!

현대 교회의 세속화와 영적 파산이 마지노선을 넘어섰다. 동성애자 안수와 동성결혼 수용(NY Times, March 17,2015)을 넘어, 이제는 안수 목회자의 일대일 단혼제(Monogamy) 의무화를 상정할 때 그 상정안을 부결시켰다. (The Presbyterian Outlook, July 1, 2026) 또한 아동·청소년을 위한 성전환 수술(신체 변형 수술) 지지 결정까지 PCUSA 총회에서 가결되는 현실을 마주하고 있다. (Christian Post, July 6, 2026)  이는 단순한 노선 갈등이나 시대적 변화가 아니다. 하나님의 창조 질서를 정면으로 거부하는 현대판 교회의 영적 배도의 길이다.

돌이켜보면 이 거대한 영적 붕괴의 서막은 미국 장로교(PCUSA)의 결정에서 이미 예견된 일이었다. 우리 모두가 기억하듯, PCUSA는 지난 2010년 총회에서 동성애자 안수 제한을 철폐하기로 결의하고 이듬해부터 이를 실행했다.

교단의 타락은 여기서 멈추지 않았다. 2014년 총회에서는 결혼의 정의를 기존 “남녀 간의 결합”에서 “두 사람 간의 독특한 결합”으로 변경하는 헌법 개정안(Amendment 14-F)을 통과시켰다. 이 개정안 역시 노회 과반의 찬성을 얻어 2015년 3월 최종 승인되었고, 그해부터 미국 전역에서 동성결혼식이 전면 허용되었다. 성경적 진리를 파괴하는 두 가지 치명적인 결정이 내려진 지 벌써 10여 년이 흐른 것이다.

진리를 저버린 대가는 참혹했다. 세속적 기준에 발맞추면 세상의 환영을 받을 것 같았지만, 현실은 정반대였다. PCUSA는 이 두 가지 비성경적인 결정을 전후로 지난 20~25년간 교인 수가 끊임없이 폭락하는 영적 쇠퇴기를 겪고 있다. 수많은 성도와 신실한 교회들이 진리를 찾아 교단을 떠났고, 교회의 영적 동력은 땅에 떨어졌다. 성경의 권위를 잃어버린 교회에 더 이상 세상이 영적 권위를 인정하지 않기 때문이다.

이처럼 교인이 급감하는 위기 속에서도 10년이라는 세월 동안 PCUSA는 회개하지 않고 멈추지 않았다. 최근 교계 언론들이 보도한 “단혼제 의무화 폐지 시도”와 “아동·청소년 성전환 수술 지지 결정”은 전통적 신앙의 가치를 지키려는 많은 교단의 성도들과 우리 교회에게 경종과 무거운 과제를 던져준다. 과연 성경의 권위를 인정하는 성도와 교회는 어떤 방향으로 나아가야 하는가, 그리고 이러한 성경의 권위를 버리고 왜곡하여 영적 혼란 속에서 고통받는 성도들을 구해내기 위한 우리의 사명은 무엇인가를 깊이 돌아보게 만든다.   

디모데후서 4장 3~4절은 “때가 이르리니 사람이 바른 교훈을 받지 아니하며 귀가 가려워서 자기의 사욕을 따를 스승을 많이 두고 또 그 귀를 진리에서 돌이켜 허탄한 이야기를 따르리라” 고 경고한다.   하나님의 절대적인 말씀보다 인간의 인권과 문화적 다양성이라는 미명 아래 성경을 자의적으로 재해석하고, 대중의 입맛에 맞는 메시지만을 좇는 현대 교회의 모습은 성경이 예견한 말세의 전형적인 징조다. 오늘날 현대 교회가 직면한 영적 위기 앞에서, 성경은 우리가 가야 할 길을 이처럼 명확히 가르쳐 주고 있다.

첫째, 진리의 터 위에 굳건히 서라: “너는 말씀을 전파하라 때를 얻든지 못 얻든지 항상 힘쓰라 범사에 오래 참음과 가르침으로 경책하며 경계하며 권하라” (딤후 4:2)

둘째, 미혹의 세대에서 분별하라: “너희는 이 세대를 본받지 말고 오직 마음을 새롭게 함으로 변화를 받아 하나님의 선하시고 기뻐하시고 온전하신 뜻이 무엇인지 분별하도록 하라” (롬 12:2)

셋째, 혼란 속의 성도들을 긍휼히 여겨 구원하라: “어떤 의심하는 자들을 긍휼히 여기라 또 어떤 자를 그 불에서 끌어내어 구원하라” (유다서 1:22~23)

교회의 본질은 시대를 따르는 유행이 아니다. 변치 않는 하나님의 말씀을 사수하고, 그 앞에 철저히 회개하며, 성령 안에서 하나님과 깊이 교제하는 삶이야말로 교회의 참된 모습이다. 역사적으로 성경을 버린 강단의 끝은 결국 교회의 공멸뿐이었음을, 오늘날 PCUSA의 역사가 똑똑히 증명하고 있다.

이 영적으로 혼탁한 시대에 잠언 1장 23절은 우리에게 이렇게 외친다. “나의 책망을 듣고 돌이키라 보라 내가 나의 영을 너희에게 부어 주며 내 말을 너희에게 보이리라.”

삼위일체 하나님과 성경의 진리를 믿는 성도들은 지금이라도 교회와 교단이 세속화와 타협의 걸음을 걸을 때, 그 자리에 단호히 멈추어 서야 한다. 하나님의 준엄한 책망 앞에 무릎 꿇고 회개할 때, 비로소 성령의 강력한 임재를 경험하고 하나님의 말씀이 삶 속에 밝히 보이는 영적 각성을 체험하게 된다. 시대의 어둠 속에서 깨어 있는 믿음의 사람이 된다는 것은 바로 이 돌이킴에서 시작된다.

이제 우리는 타협의 걸음을 멈추고 결단해야 한다. 세속의 물결 앞에 무너진 영적 성벽과 성전을 재건하는 심정으로, 오직 성경, 오직 진리의 터 위에 성경적 교회와 가정, 그리고 다음세대를 반드시 세워야 할 것이다.

 The Pulpit Abandoning the Bible (PCUSA): How Far Will the Collapse Go?:

 Beyond Homosexuality to the "Dissolution of Monogamy" and "Child Gender Transition"—The Unchecked Secularization of the Modern Church!

The secularization and spiritual bankruptcy of the modern church have crossed the final line. Going beyond the ordination of openly gay clergy and the acceptance of same-sex marriage (The New York Times, March 17, 2015), we now face a stark reality: the PCUSA General Assembly has voted down the mandatory requirement of monogamy for ordained ministers (The Presbyterian Outlook, July 1, 2026) and decisions to support gender transition surgeries (body modification surgeries) for children and youth are being passed at the PCUSA General Assembly (The Christian Post, July 6, 2026). This is not a mere conflict of opinions or a natural shift with the times; it is a modern-day spiritual apostasy that flatly rejects God’s created order.

Looking back, the prelude to this massive spiritual collapse was already foreseen in the past decisions of the Presbyterian Church (USA). As we all remember, the PCUSA voted at its 2010 General Assembly to remove restrictions on the ordination of openly gay clergy and implemented it the following year.

The denomination’s drift did not stop there. At the 2014 General Assembly, they passed a constitutional amendment (Amendment 14-F) to redefine marriage from a union between "a man and a woman" to a unique covenant between "two people." This amendment gained the approval of a majority of the presbyteries and received final ratification in March 2015, fully permitting same-sex marriage ceremonies across the United States. Over a decade has already passed since these two fatal decisions destroyed biblical truth.

The cost of abandoning the truth has been devastating. It seemed that keeping pace with secular standards would win the world’s applause, but reality proved to be exactly the opposite. Around the time of these two unbiblical decisions, the PCUSA entered a period of sharp spiritual decline, experiencing a continuous collapse in membership over the last 20 to 25 years. Countless believers and faithful churches left the denomination in search of the truth, and the spiritual vitality of the church plummeted. When a church loses the authority of Scripture, the world no longer recognizes its spiritual authority.

Despite this crisis of plunging numbers, the PCUSA has neither repented nor stopped over the past ten years. The two recent events reported by church media—the attempt to abolish mandatory monogamy for clergy and the decision to endorse gender transition surgeries for children and youth—sound a grave alarm and present a heavy burden to our churches and to believers across many denominations who strive to protect the values of traditional faith. It forces us to ask: In what direction must believers and churches who recognize the authority of Scripture move forward? Furthermore, what is our mission to rescue those people who are suffering in spiritual confusion inside a denomination that has abandoned and distorted the authority of the Bible?

2 Timothy 4:3–4 warns us: “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”

The current state of the modern church—where Scripture is arbitrarily reinterpreted under the guise of human rights and cultural diversity, chasing only messages that cater to public taste rather than the absolute Word of God—is a textbook sign of the end times predicted by the Bible. 

In the face of the spiritual crisis confronting the modern church today, the Bible clearly teaches us the path we must take:

· First, stand firm on the foundation of truth: “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.” (2 Timothy 4:2)

· Second, discern in a deceiving generation: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2)

· Third, show mercy and rescue believers caught in confusion: “Be merciful to those who doubt; save others by snatching them from the fire.” (Jude 1:22–23)

The true essence of the church is not to chase the fleeting trends of the times. It is to defend the unchanging Word of God, to repent thoroughly before it, and to live a life of deep fellowship with God in the Holy Spirit. History clearly proves, and the trajectory of the PCUSA vividly demonstrates, that a pulpit abandoning the Bible ultimately leads to collective ruin.

In this spiritually dark and chaotic age, Proverbs 1:23 cries out to us: “Turn at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.”

Believers who trust in the Triune God and the truth of Scripture must firmly halt in their tracks if their churches and denominations begin to walk the path of secularization and compromise. When we bow down and repent before God’s solemn rebuke, we will truly experience the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit and spiritual awakening, where the Word of God is clearly revealed in our lives. Becoming a person of awake faith in the darkness of this age begins with this very turning back.

Now, we must stop compromising and make a definitive choice. With the heart of rebuilding the broken spiritual walls and temples, we must return to the Bible alone and truth alone, ensuring that we firmly establish biblical churches, families, and the next generation.
